There is widespread consensus that the current pharmaceutical system is not functioning adequately. Change is needed to ensure a more sustainable and equitable future. We must develop a broader strategy to move towards a public pharmaceutical infrastructure that is driven by public health needs. This will require intense political mobilization of European civil society, which this event is being organized to ignite.
In March of 2024 civil society, activists, scholars and many more gathered in Brussels for a conference to analyse and strategise ways forward on this issue. After the conference they came together to establish a coalition that will work towards achieving public infrastructure for medicines, medical products, and tools for everyone in Europe.
